How it works

Three things that make KYC pass an audit.

One API, every check

Liveness, document OCR, NFC chip read, and sanctions / PEP screen in a single call. No vendor stitching, no re-keying.

Audit trail by construction

Every decision ships with inputs, the rule that fired, and policy version. Wolfsberg AML Principles §5 met by default.

Re-KYC on risk, not calendar

Sanctions update, address change, behavioural anomaly — events trigger re-verification. Static 1/3/5-year cycles retire.

FAQ

Common questions about KYC Onboarding

How fast is the WIDTH KYC verification flow?
Most retail KYC decisions return in under 30 seconds end-to-end, including biometric liveness, document OCR, and sanctions/PEP screening. Median latency for the screening sub-call is sub-second; document OCR is typically 4–8s; passive liveness is sub-second.
Which identity document types and regions are supported?
WIDTH supports 200+ ID document types across 190+ countries — passports, national IDs, driver's licences, residence permits, and locale-specific documents (e.g., Singapore NRIC, HKID, MyKad, Aadhaar, Emirates ID). Full ICAO MRZ + barcode + RFID extraction where applicable.
Is the KYC flow FATF Rec 10 and MAS Notice 626 compliant?
Yes. The default workflow covers FATF Recommendation 10 (CDD) and is configured by default to satisfy MAS Notice 626, HKMA AML/CFT Guideline, FCA SYSC 6.3, and FINTRAC reg. Each decision is captured as a versioned audit envelope with all source evidence and screening hit details.
What biometric liveness vendors does WIDTH use?
WIDTH supports passive liveness (no user action required), active liveness (challenge-response), and 1:1 face match against the document portrait. Liveness vendors are pluggable; production deployments commonly use iProov, FaceTec, or our in-house model — selected per region and risk policy.
How does WIDTH handle re-KYC and periodic refresh?
Re-KYC can be triggered by event (sanction list update, residence change, transactional anomaly) or by calendar (annual / biennial). WIDTH stores the customer's signed identity envelope and only re-collects the fields that changed, minimising drop-off.
Can the SDK be embedded in our own onboarding flow?
Yes. WIDTH ships a Web SDK, Android SDK, and iOS SDK that drop into any onboarding stack. The SDK collects biometrics + documents client-side and returns a single decision token your backend can verify with the REST API. CSP-friendly; no third-party iframes required.
